Terms and Conditions
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using Preplani. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Preplani.
1. About the Service
Preplani is a learning management tool that allows users to set learning goals, create structured study plans from books, articles, and online content, track progress, and take notes. The service is operated by Preplani, based in Belgium.

2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years of age to use Preplani. By registering, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are using Preplani on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these terms.
3. Your Account
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. Do not share your password with others. You are liable for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@preplani.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, without prior notice in cases of serious breach.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Preplani only for lawful purposes. The following are strictly prohibited:
- Uploading or submitting content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights, including copyrighted books or materials you do not have the right to process.
- Automated scraping, crawling, or harvesting of Preplani content, pages, or user data.
- Using the service to store, transmit, or generate illegal, abusive, defamatory, or harmful content.
- Attempting to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service, its servers, or other users' accounts.
- Reverse engineering, decompiling, or otherwise attempting to extract source code from Preplani.
- Using the service to send unsolicited commercial communications (spam).
- Circumventing, disabling, or interfering with security features of the service.
- Impersonating another person or misrepresenting your affiliation with any entity.
Violations may result in immediate account suspension and, where applicable, referral to law enforcement authorities.
5. Your Content & Intellectual Property
You retain ownership of all content you create in Preplani — goals, plans, notes, and checklist items. By submitting content, you grant Preplani a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store and display that content solely to provide the service to you.
You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload and process any files (PDFs, EPUBs, MOBIs) you submit to our AI extraction feature. Preplani is not liable for your use of third-party copyrighted materials.
All Preplani branding, interface design, and proprietary code are the intellectual property of Preplani and may not be reproduced without written permission.
6. AI Features
Preplani uses third-party AI providers to extract structured content from files and URLs. AI-generated study plans are provided as-is and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying AI-generated output before relying on it.
By using the AI import feature, you acknowledge that file or URL content is transmitted to our AI providers for processing, as described in our Privacy Policy.
When you save an article URL to a learning plan, Preplani may fetch, clean, and temporarily cache the article's content so it can be displayed inside your account alongside your notes and progress. For paid accounts we may retain a private copy so the reader keeps working if the source page changes or goes offline. Cached article content is scoped to your account and is never shared or made public. Publishers may request removal of a specific URL by contacting us.
7. Free Plan & Service Limits
The free plan is subject to usage limits (goals and study plans per goal) as displayed on the Pricing page. We reserve the right to adjust these limits with reasonable notice. Continued use of the service after any limit change constitutes acceptance of the new limits.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
Preplani is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by Belgian and EU law, we disclaim all implied warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses or other harmful components. You use Preplani at your own risk.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Preplani and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, loss of profits, or loss of goodwill — arising out of or in connection with your use of the service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of these terms or your use of Preplani shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) €50.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under Belgian or EU law.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Preplani and its operators from any claims, losses, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these terms, your content, or your misuse of the service.
11. Termination
You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Delete Account. Upon deletion, your data is permanently erased within 30 days as described in our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, engage in conduct harmful to other users or the service, or as required by law. Where possible, we will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to remedy the breach before termination.
12. Changes to the Service
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of Preplani at any time. We will endeavour to give reasonable notice of significant changes. Continued use of the service after such changes constitutes your acceptance.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email to registered users at least 14 days before taking effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the current version. If you do not agree to the revised terms, you should stop using the service and delete your account before the changes take effect.
14. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Belgium and, where applicable, European Union law. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Belgium, without prejudice to your rights as a consumer under mandatory EU consumer protection law.
If you are a consumer residing in another EU member state, you retain the protection of the mandatory provisions of your country's consumer law.
15. Miscellaneous
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force. Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Preplani.
